Niku-jyaga is one of the Japanese homemade dish you should try!

☆ Recipe of Niku-jyaga ☆

Ingredients (2-3 servings)

・3 of potatoes
・1 of carrot
・1/2 of onion
・200g of chopped or minced beef
(→ pork is also O.K.)
・1/2 bag of konjac noodles
(→ made from konjac starch)
・5-6 of kidney bean

・1/2 cup of water
・1 teaspoon of instant broth granules
・2 tablespoons of sugar
・2 tablespoon of cooking sake
・2 tablespoons of mirin (sweet rice wine)
・2 tablespoons of soy sauce
・1 teaspoon of vegetable oil

How to cook

1. Cut the ingredients into bite-sized pieces.
・ potato and carrot … chop into chunks
・ onion … cut into wedges
・ beef (pork) … cut into bite-size
・ konjac noodles … wash with water and cut into 5-6 cm length.

2. Put the vegetable oil into the pan and heat it.
Stir-fry the meat, onion, carrot, and potato.
Then, put them into the pot.

3. Put the konjac noodles and kidney beans into STEP 2.
Add water, instant broth granules and seasonings.
Cover with a “otoshi-buta (wooden drop lid)” directly on the food and simmer them for about 15-20 minutes.

4. When almost all the liquid is gone, it’s ready to eat.

One-point advice

・ Cut the potatoes a little bigger than the others because they are easy to melt.
・ If you don’t have a wooden drop lid, you can use aluminum foil.
Cut it into the inside diameter size of the pot and use as a lid.
・ When all steps are done, leave it for a while. When they are getting cold, they absorb seasonings.
